Twitter Updates Policy to Ban Tweets That 'Dehumanize Others'
Twitter has announced an update its "hateful conduct" policy to include content that "dehumanizes others" based on their membership in an identifiable grouping, even when the cloth does non include a direct target.
For the final three months, the micro-blogging platform has been developing a new policy to address dehumanizing linguistic communication that makes someone less than human being, Twitter said belatedly on Tuesday.
"Some of this content falls inside our hateful carry policy (which prohibits the promotion of violence against or direct attacks or threats against other people on the footing of race, ethnicity, national origin, sexual orientation, gender, religious amalgamation, historic period, disability or serious illness)," Twitter said in a blog post.
Our hateful carry policy is expanding to address dehumanizing language and how information technology tin atomic number 82 to existent-world harm. The Twitter Rules should be easier to sympathize so we're trying something new and asking y'all to be part of the development process. Read more than and submit feedback.

"But there are still Tweets many people consider to exist abusive, even when they practice not break our rules. Better addressing this gap is part of our work to serve a salubrious public chat," Vijaya Gadde and Del Harvey from Twitter said in a blog postal service.

Many scholars have already examined the relationship between dehumanization and violence.
Twitter is at present asking its 336 million users to give feedback on this to ensure how this policy may impact different communities and cultures.
"For languages not represented on our platform, our policy team is working closely with local non-governmental organisations and policy makers to ensure their perspectives are captured," said the blog post.
The users would have time till Oct 9 to provide Twitter with feedback on the new policy.
"We're experimenting with a new way to write and roll-out policy and rules. Let the states know what you think," tweeted CEO Jack Dorsey.
